Quake-Proof Housing

As an assessment for Chapter 2 in our unit on Changing Earth (Science) the students had to explore how to make a house/building earthquake proof.  The project allowed to students to be creative within their small groups to either create a detailed drawing, or scale model.  Each group was required to present to the class and explain their reasoning for their design.  Below are pictures of the students' creations.  More pictures to be added.

Storytelling with Vuvox

As we finished up our unit on ancient Greece the students were assigned to write a myth.  All students then used Vuvox the digitally tell the myth.  If you are unfamiliar with Vuvox, please visit their site here.  To view and comment on the students' digital stories click on the following link. Vuvox Digital Stories  Below is a sample of how you might use Vuvox.  I used pictures of my dog Fenn, and his "girlfriend" Jagen.

A World of Comments

Below is a map that includes where some of my students have received comments from pertaining to their blog posts.  The world has become a very small place! Scroll to check out Australia and New Zealand. I will continue to add to this map throughout the year and re-post it. We would love to get comments from all 50 states, and as many countries as possible. View student blogs here.

It's All Greek to Me!

Recently the students have been working on and presenting final assessments relating to our unit on ancient Greece.  The students could choose to write a myth, write and perform a skit, or create a Greek newspaper.  They all did a great job!  Here are some pictures of their work.
