Skype Session Successful!

On Friday, February 11th at approximately 10:00 a.m. our class had the pleasure of having a Skype session with a class in Garnder, KS.  Our 25 minute session revolved around a debate about Athens and Sparta.  The students at Pioneer Ridge Middle School, and their teacher Mr. Ferrell, were fun to talk to.  We really enjoyed the experience and will make plans to do it again soon!  Click here to learn more about Pioneer Ridge Middle School.  Below are some pictures of the session, and a map showing where Pioneer Ridge Middle School is located.

Google is currently hosting a contest that allows students to design a Google homepage logo.  Contest rules can be found here.  Below are the documents associated with the contest.  The national winner is given a $15,000 college scholarship, and a $25,000 technology grant is awarded to their school!  I am going to encourage all of the students to participate.  Extra credit will be given to students who enter the contest.
The consent form and entry form are shown below.  They can be printed by clicking on the print icon in the lower toolbar.

Athens vs. Sparta

As we begin our study of Ancient Greece, the last couple of classes the students have focused on Athens and Sparta.  Their assignment is to create a giant venn diagram and list similarities and differences of the two cities.  Below is a picture of two students hard at work.  But they did take a break to pose for the picture.
