Today the students began creating their book reports on Glogster. If you are not familiar with Glogster, it is an online program in which students can create interactive posters. The students were given the criteria for their poster on our classroom management site, Edmodo. Here is an example of a Glog Book Report. It does not match our criteria exactly, but it helps visualize what they will be like. I will be posting the Glogs on the blog by the end of next week! The criteria for the book report can be found here.

As the students finish up their mapping unit they are learning the difficult job of a cartographer. They were asked to select a region, state, city, etc. that they have visited or are interested in. The students will then be asked to create a map that should include information about it. They will then share their map with the class and explain their selection. A rubric has been provided so that the students know exactly what needs to be accomplished.

Today the students began writing their personal narratives. The essay should reflect an event in their life they feel strongly about. They hope to entertain their classmates with stories from real-life. Pre-writing has started, and tomorrow we will begin to write our rough drafts. The students should be prepared because we did a warm-up assignment in which they had to write a narrative paragraph. All students have the option to continue with the same topic from their single paragraph, or start a new one. I am expecting to post some of these essays on our blog! Stay tuned...

Today the students began MAP testing. We started our day with the Math MAP. The students did an awesome job of putting in 100% effort! Our next MAP test will be next week Thursday. It will test their knowledge of language arts. Remind them to get plenty of sleep the night before and eat a good breakfast.
